It just so happens that the week of February 21-25 I was in Toronto, and that I was there the weekend before and after those dates. It just so happens that I like to walk and although a fair distance, from where I was staying, I walked to Kensington Market. It just so happens as I was aimlessly wandering around, I came upon Lettuce Knits. It just so happens that the Yarn Harlot was not shopping for yarn there, that day. I just so happens that I can't have every thing my way.
It just so happens that two skeins of lovely purple Koigu followed me out of the store that day.
It just so happens that later that week I made a deliberate visit to Romni Wools. It just so happens that I found myself in their basement surrounded by discounted and discontinued balls of wool. It just so happens that Mission Falls has closed their door and Romni has put the remaining Mission Falls stock in their basement. It just so happens that enough 136 merino superwash for a sweater and one ball of sock yarn followed me out of the store.
It just so happens that yarn bought while on holiday doesn't count as stash.
So, it just so happens that I have not cheated on my yarn diet. It just so happens that I know you'll all agree with me on this.
Until next time

To Join or not to Join
I'm fighting an urge. I'm fighting an urge to buy sock yarn. This is very hard for me and to tell you the truth I really don't know why I'm even doing it. But I am fighting the urge.......quick some get me some oxygen, I need to lie down until the urge goes away.....someone please catch me, I'm feeling woozy and I'm afraid that I may faint.

Yesterday I was reading The Harlot's blog post about the Rockin' Sock Club and of course I headed over to the site. I read, I drooled, I signed up for an account and then I calculated. I am now fighting the urge and I'm wondering why.
Do I like hand painted/dyed yarn? YES
Do I like the fact that I'll get the colours before the general public? YES
Do I like the fact that I'll get sock patterns before the general public? YES
Do I mind not having to spend 2 hours staring at a display trying to decide which colour of sock yarn or pattern to buy because someone else has made those decisions? NO
Do I like the extra goodies they are including in the membership? YES
Can I afford the cost? YES
Would I like to get a yarny present, in the mail, every other month? YES
Is it possible to have too much sock yarn? NO
So why haven't I whipped out my credit card and signed up? I really don't know. I could say that it's because I'm saving for my trip and that I'll be buying enough fibre during my holiday to choke a horse. I could say that I have already gone past the point of SABLE with my sock yarn stash and am now working on my kids' inheritance. I could say that certain plans I have for later this year may make money and time tight for me.
I could also say that I've got this in my stash.....and would like to actually knit with the yarn, once, before buying even more.
But in case that's not it, if anyone sees the snatchers please tell them I'd like my body back.
Until next time

I thought that they would help.
As I'm sure you're all aware of the healing powers of knitting cables. All Hail!!!! to the restorative powers of cables. I figured what better way than to become a Yarn Harlot groupie and knit my way, with the Must Have Cardigan, back to health.
The yarn would have been perfect. It has been in my stash long enough to have aged nicely, just like a fine wine. The yarn actually came from an estate sale about 12 years ago so it's hard to say how long it's actually been stashed for.
Because I wanted this cold to be over and done with quickly, I dove in, head first, into the back. After a few rows I discovered that this yarn was not meant for cables. I can't blame the yarn though. I just can't think clearly with phlegm filled sinuses. I'm heart broken, but resign myself to frogging the little I've knit. After all, what's the point of all those lovely cables if you can't see them!!!!!!

Since I am anxious to use this yarn, I am knitting a plain raglan sweater. Looks like I'll be sick for a while longer.
